Is this really what people think these skills are worth!?!?!?

Part-time with possibility of full-time.
Needed: pattern maker able to make pattern from detailed design/drawing. Fast, reliable, understands and speaks English.
Please email how many patterns you can make a day. Must be able to do size grading. Must be able to sew up sample from pattern. Only fast, experienced may apply. Please send CV to info@recessionrunway.org
Pattern maker £7/hour negotiable

Sample maker £6.50/hour
Must be fast, experienced and make to a very high standard. Please answer how many samples you can make a day. Only apply if you are a reliable, punctual, experienced and fast seamstress.

Seamstresses
Extremely fast, high standard seamstresses only. Please let me know how many garments on average you can sew in a day. Reliable, punctual, hard working.
£6/hour

Edit: I actually think this person is delusional. I can tell you that actual qualified pattern makers who know how to do grading and are fast and experienced wouldn't work for this person. This is wishful thinking and reflects the ideas that people have about what this skills are worth; not necessarily what they actually get paid in legitimate situations.

A little while ago, I posted a picture of this corset that I made for a lovely bride few months back.

Here are close ups and more details about this piece.

Large Photos )

It is made with fantastic embroidered sage green silk taffeta backed with coutil. It is lined in brocade coutil. Steel boned throughout; a mixture of spring and steel depending on where it is placed on the body. It features a gold busk and eyelets, a front busk protective panel, a boned modesty panel. The trim is silk taffeta and matches the wedding skirt that I made to match.

The fabric was difficult to match because the pattern was placed in two narrow rows in the middle of the fabric and had a large repeat that did not mirror. The embroidery caused the fabric to warp and pull in places so it was challenging to create a smooth corset. Over all I'm very pleased with this piece.

Thanks for having a look at my work.

I *am* taking orders for corsets but you may have a couple of orders in queue ahead of you.

I've done a number of shoots recently.

Here is the most recent one. I'll add more soon, I promise. I love this photographer and we worked together very well. We plan on doing it again soon!

Ok I'm going crazy on the spelling thing.

My spell check corrects color to colour. It does nothing to colorize. And now everything looks wrong.

I do still make corsets! I found this one doing my occasional goggling to see what people are saying. I loved working with this particularly cool girl. It has been a few months but I've been very bad about posting pictures of recent work...

I wanted to showcase the amazing sketches that one of my favorite artists has made for me. One of them will become a painting. It will such a hard choice because I love them so much!!!

I gave her the lyrics to a Mana song that I love: En El Muelle de San Blas. It is a melancholic song about a woman who loses her mind waiting for her lover by the sea.

Our bank card number was stolen *again*.

Some idiot payed his council tax, topped off his phone and bought plane tickets to Canada using our number.

Mmmm. Does he not think he'll get caught considering council tax is linked to an address? And does he actually think he'll be making it all the way to Canada?

Good grief.

Internet access was v.v. limited while I was away, and my time even more so.

It was great to see friends and family. Busy but good. It is nice how many people made the effort to see us. We are so lucky to have so many amazing people that I love in my life. So happy :) There was even a little bitty baby.

Yet, very relieved to be home now. Got to Lindy hop for the first time in about 3 weeks tonight. Super happy.

It is rather odd. This is home now. Good Old Blighty. Who would have thunk it?

Dear lovely little birds of London:

3:45am is entirely too early to start singing. Between that and the constant daylight how is a smurfette supposed to get a decent night's sleep?

Love,

My little (err 22 year old) niece is coming to visit in August. She just graduated with a political science degree from a very good school, the University of Illinois. Does anyone in London if their company is looking to hire people for work experience for a couple of weeks? It would be great for her CV and that way she has something interesting to do during the day while she is here. She's very shy (at first) but very smart and a hard worker :) Please let me know if you have any leads. Thanks Bunches!
